I've got it on my calendar.

Only thing that I find disturbing is that 11/7 is only three weeks from now. What happened to the year?

OK, great news, I spoke with the mgr/chef Sammy last night, he would like to serve our group family style (so that means others are more than welcome to join us !!)

    Menu will be:

Roti Canai - Indian Flatbread served w/chicken/potato curry dipping sauce
Gado Gado - salad of jicama, string bean, bean sprouts, tofu, eggs, cucumber, mixed w/peanut sauce dressing
Bak Kuh Teh - Malaysian spare rib soup
Mee Goreng - stir fried noodles in Indian dried squid sauce w/tofu, potato, shrimp, bean sprouts
Beef Rendang - cubes of beef in a paste of lemongrass, chili, red onion, then simmered in coconut milk gravy
Mixed veggies w/shrimp paste - eggplant, string bean, mixed w/sambal belacan
Chili Crab - sweet crab cooked in a chili gravy
    Hainanese Chicken & Rice
Skate wing in Banana Leaf w/Malaysian BBQ spices

Cost will depend on number of people attending.

I'll firm up attendance on Fri Nov 1
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

This looks like it'll be a fine event!

My last (long-ago) visit to Penang was in Chinatown prior to its conflagration...please count me in for the 7th.

After planning a couple of dinners here, I'm guessing that most anything is possible, so I'll bring it up.

More than happy to ask about other dishes, so if others have suggestions, please post.

I'd be interested in nasi goreng, but don't really need it if we feel there's enough carbs already.

The menu does look exciting, and I'm excited for my first trip out here. That would be great if you are willing to bring up another suggestion. One thing I saw everywhere on my 2012 trip to Penang was Otak-Otak, or as I loved seeing it written, Otak². It is a fishy (usually mackeral) coconut, savory custard, wrapped in banana leaf. A lot of them that we tried also had curry and laksa leaves flavoring them. It was definitely one of my favorite things from that trip.

They are making sure that they can get all the ingredients for Otak².

It was again funny, the questions that kept coming: "Are you sure they don't mind skin or bones?" my response: No we don't "Our assam laksa is not like the assam laksa in Singapore" my response: That's fine. etc etc

Price is still TBD, but I will let group know as soon as I do.
