    To all participants:

Posting this note from Martha, organizer of Soup & Bread:

Here's what you need to know:

    * Please bring your soups to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, between 5 and 5:30 on Wednesday.
    * Bring them hot, if at all possible. It takes a VERY VERY long time to warm up ice cold soup in our crock pots. Like, hours.
    * Bring 2-3 gallons, more if you like. JLB: WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND AT LEAST 3 GALLONS UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUN OUT AND HAVE EVERYONE GIVE YOU MEAN LOOKS :)
    * Please plan to stay and serve your soup if possible. And if you can't, let us know so we can round up a volunteer.
    * We provide crock pots, as well as ladles, bowls, spoons, etc.
    * If you are new to Soup & Bread, see our FAQ here http://soupandbread.net/soup-bread-2013-faq/ -- and then hit me with any unanswered questions.

Bread will be provided by Crumb Bread and Publican Quality Meats. Our DJ is Jillian Matson, and all our pay-what-you-can donations benefit Casa Catalina in Back of the Yards.
We will promote the event with listing on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SoupBreadChicago) and on Twitter (@soupandbread), so please help us spread the word if you're down with such things.

Thanks again, and see you next Wednesday!

I will be bringing some sort of homemade candy assortment - likely buttercrunch toffee, peanut brittle, truffles. I figure they automatically fit the love, lust, hate theme because I love to eat them; lust after them; and hate what they do to my waistline ;-)

I've got about 100 Nutella Meringues in the oven. I can make another batch on Wednesday. I'll be baking for a bake sale on Thursday, so if I have time I'll make more meringues or something that doesn't need to be in the oven as long.

OK - time for me to get my act together. I'm definitely in for Buttermilk Chocolate Cookies. Maybe another type of cookie/bar thingy recipe to go along with it. We'll see. I'm sending down my stuff with Cathy2.

    Hi,

I will bring cheese soup instead of Hungarian mushroom soup.

I have a lot of cheese from the demise of Dominick;s.

Desserts are always part of our night but never required--so if you would like to bring something, that would be wonderful but if you run short on time, don't worry about it--the most important thing is to come out!!!!

I love cheese soup!! I'm going to turn in our final soup roster to Martha, with designations for Vegetarian and Vegan--as of now, I have Leek down for a soup that is Vegan if you forgo the yogurt drizzle, mbh's entry is vegan and not sure about yours--is it vegetarian? Doesn't need to be but if it is, we'd want to let people know.

    thanks!!

    Hi,

It should be vegetarian. If I go for some variant where sprinkling bacon is suitable, it will be on the side.

I can bring some disposable knives for your use. I have a feeling they have knives there to cut up the donated bread.
