This is a great opportunity for me to visit a place I've been curious about for a long time. Please put me in +1 for the Mrs.
    Thanks for setting it up!

Part of the reason I want to visit Floriole is to score some of their renowned kouign amann. Though they say they generally have it available, I'm not sure that it would not sell out before Friday evening. I'm considering putting in a special order and wonder if others would also be interested. Though the site says reservations are not necessary, if attendance builds, this might be a good idea.

Sorry you & Sue can't make it.

    Bean,

It's been awhile since I had a kouign amann.

I just spoke w/ the folks @ Floriole and asked them to have 8-10 kouign amann available for us. I figure we can probably wipe out whatever stock they have for us. They said that while it is not ideal to freeze them for later, that's not going to absolutely ruin them, so I'm happy to take a few home if I can. There should be plenty for others.

I'm surprised there aren't more takers for this event. I suspect everybody is planning on destroying their diets at the GCMBBQ this evening.

I can't make it, but let us know how the cannelle are, if available. Just had a depressing (and pricey) Floriole cannelle at Intelligentsia. Not their best effort (maybe). My hope is that they were mishandled by the coffee shop. If I hadn't had several at Bad Wolf in the past several weeks, I might have mildly liked it. But no comparison, unfortunately. No tooth to the crust, no custard to the crumb, no burnt sugar flavor, no hint of vanilla. I am not one of those idiots who thinks that there can only be one go-to place for a particular food item or even that head-to-head comparisons are particularly helpful. But the contrast was so stark. Bad Wolf's are consistent and the best I've ever had, and Floriole's via Intelligentsia was middling at best. This despite the fact that Floriole's cannelle enjoy great renown, a la the kouign amann. If my description is not apt based on others' experience at the bakery, then Floriole might want to reassess Intelligentsia's handling of their products.

If you signed up, check your pm box in a few minutes. The pizzas are roughly 14 inches, 8 slices. Don't forget you are probably ordering more food. They are suggesting three pizzas. I don't eat animals so I ordered one basic with tomato and mozz. Let me know which others you want to try.

I will be there and am interested in pizza (or anything savory, but could do without if this late confirmation complicates anything, I love everything they do). Looking forward.

    Santander,

    See you there.

Pizzas were pre-ordered and the kouign amann should be ready as well.

Wow! Just wow! I can't believe I waited this long to get to Floriole for pizza!

Even better, the company and the conversation were great. Thanks for coming out.

And thank you for organizing - wonderful pizza and wonderful people.

I was particularly impressed by the Simple Red pie - just right in each aspect and balanced ... I want another tonight!

And my first kouign amann - just delish! so flakey, light but so yummy and that crunch of sugar - perfection.

The Simple Red Pie was, indeed, near perfection! Though, the white pizza was fascinating and flavorful enough that I'm inspired to come up with my own take on a cherry/sausage combo. Attendees of the fall pot-luck picnic beware!

Thanks to the staff @ Floriole for being so welcoming and warm, thanks to pairs4life for organizing and sparkling. Next time we get together you have to show me your Billy Joel autograph tat
