The Pitmaster dinners I've been to have been fantastic but I thought last night's was the best yet. Tortilla chips dusted with jalapeno (ad maybe habanero) powder were delicious and spicy as hell, but cooled by the wonderful Texas caviar (like a bean/tomato salsa). Armadillo eggs were Italian sausage/Mexican chorizo combo filled with a cheese/sour cream/jalapeno mixture and smoked. They were also excellent, and what I really appreciated was that they had just the right amount of chorizo and smoke, where too much chorizo or smoke would have overwhelmed the other flavors.
Of course, the star of the show was the phenomenal ribeye, which was served with beans and fried okra. Again, smoke played a prominent role without overwhelming the other flavors. And the ribeye was served with an awesome onion/jalapeno jam. Hoosier Mama pecan pie for dessert. Tons of delicious food, and yes, leftovers to boot. Gary and staff really knocked it out of the park last night. If you really want to experience the very best of Barn & Company, pay attention to these posts. And at $60, which includes cocktails and beer, a great value . . . particularly considering I had a second dinner tonight from the leftovers.
