The same way that La Principal, the taco-focused restaurant in Evanston, has a walk-up window where you can get churros and coffee in the morning, the owners of Ten Mile House, another restaurant in Evanston, have announced that they will be opening a donut window in (or next to) their restaurant, called DB3 Donuts. Must be a thing. :)

Any indication from the signage what kind of place this will be? Can't find any info online...

Paddy's Comeback Inn has replaced Whiskey River BBQ on River Rd in NE Mount Prospect. So far only two yelp reviews (one possible shill, one very shrill). The menu is very limited (three burgers, buffalo wings, corned beef sandwich, spicy chicken, fish & chips, and donuts for dessert).

The reasons for running right over there boil down to it being the closest restaurant to my house.

Was it ever reported here that the 2429 N. Lincoln location of Pizano's (next to The Biograph) has closed? I was thinking of heading over there this week and checked the hours on their website, only to find this:

Surprising. They seemed to be doing well whenever I walked past. And the chain as a whole has seemed to expand, not retrench.

A lot of restaurants and small stores in that area were hit hard by Chilren's Memorial Hospital moving downtown. I'm betting that also was a factor in Edzo's LP closing. Until the redevelopment project takes off (if ever), that area will probably be relatively blighted compared to other parts of Clark.

If I understand correctly, they still do delivery from that location so it's not technically closed.

You're probably right. Looking at that page again, I see delivery hours. On my first glance I assumed that was outdated information, superseded by the boldface closure line ("Dine-In & Carry Out for 2429 N. Lincoln is CLOSED.") But the closure must pertain specifically to the restaurant operation.

FWIW, Yelp simply lists the place as CLOSED (all caps). And the line "Yelpers report this location has closed" appears when you click on the listing. The info that delivery is still possible is not to be found on Yelp.

It does seem anti-intuitive that if they have a pizza kitchen in operation at that location, they wouldn't preserve the carry-out option, but I guess that's the way it is.

As an additional FYI, this line appears on the web page: "Anyone holding an unredeemed Groupon for this location can bring it to 2056 W. Division and it will be honored."
    Pithy quote here.

Demolition of the old hospital is set to begin any day now, we've been told to expect a serious rat problem in the area as the critters flee their nests. Hopefully Pizano's is just closing the dining room temporarily to try and keep out the rats.

Two longtime Chicago restaurateurs, Phil Stefani and Adolfo Garcia, who previously announced a partnership to open a River North rum bar this spring, are collaborating on a second restaurant, Broken English Taco Pub. (The rum bar, Flamingo Rum Club, is scheduled to open at the end of May.)

Slated to open the last week of April in the former Einstein Bros. Bagels at Michigan Avenue and Lake Street, Broken English will be a casual, Mexico City-inspired taqueria and bar that will seat about 90 inside and another 40 on an outdoor patio.

    I did.

Pre cooked Pork chops and hamburger patties were piled up along with grilled onions on one side of the griddle then spent a couple of minutes on the hot side when ordered. The results were predictably dry and over done. The hot dogs were juicy and had some snap, but no hint of flavor. The fries were ordinary at best.

Speaking of Pizano's - I saw a building permit about 10 days ago in their name to build out a new restaurant at 2106 S Indiana - 21st and Indiana. This is near where the new DePaul events center/arena is being built, near where the new Marriott Marquis is being built, and near McCormick Place. Good strategy on their behalf maybe.
