I take it Jibek Jolu opened up another location.

    Jibek Jolu Restaurant
    351 W Oak St.,

It actually isn't a new location for Central Asian food; the restaurant previously at that location was Dastorkhon. They were IMHO inferior to Jibek Jolu for most items, but I really miss their zharenny lagman (stir-fried lagman), which had a lovely smoky flavor I haven't found anywhere else. I'm not sure exactly when the changeover happened.

Was with a group of 14 today for lunch at Jibek Jolu 5047 N Lincoln Ave location.

    Our group dined on:
Chebureki - fried pie w/ground beef
Chicken Samsy (check out GWiv's photo on page 1)
    Carrot Salad
Jibek Jolu Special salad - cucumber, onion, beef strips in soy sauce
Holodec aspic - veggies and ground beef held in aspic
Manty - dumplings both fried & steamed
    Vareniki - dumplings stuffed w/feta
    2 Kuurdak Lamb & 1 Kuurdak Chicken

The weak item for me personally was the Vareniki, I wanted the feta to have more pop in flavor. While I enjoyed the Kuurdak (Lamb especially) I'll order something different next time. The remainder was terrific. I'm guessing our group felt the same way as there was very little left over.

We also had 1 pitcher of Airan (Yogurt mixed with cold water) & 2 of Kompot (Kompot is a traditional clear juice obtained by cooking fruit, in a large volume of water, like rhubarb, apples, strawberries, sour cherries, gooseberries, peaches or apricots.)

Unfortunately I did not get to try any of the Kompot but LOVED drinking the Airan with my meal.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

We were there at the same time. We had lentil soup, pelmeni and lamb shashlik. All good. I wondered what the milky looking beverage was at your table.

    Ha! small world.

The white bev was airan (described above), I really enjoyed this tart, creamy drink with the food!

My +1 and I were part of Willie's group. I thought the Chicken Samsy, the Carrot Salad, and the fried Manty were the best items. I agree that the Vareniki wasn't really up to the rest of the meal.

I thought it was a good spread and well priced. For me it's a bit of a difficult location unless it's a day like Sunday where I'm able to string together four or five stops in one day. (I never did get to Devon Ave. because we ended up going to Half Acre instead...)

The link doesn't even clarify whether it's the original on Lincoln Ave or the newer one off Orleans.

Does anyone know which it is?

My guess they are trying to flip Oak Street shop they recently bought. But business and equipment description that I have rather looks like Lincoln store. I posted because my group is working on short lead time or call it QSR concept with couple similar food items.

Thanks for confirming. When viewing on my phone that information isn't even visible.
