I made it in Saturday afternoon to DryHop Brewers pre-opening event. Four of there beers were available for free samples (I particularly liked the coconut milk stout, but enjoyed all four). Two of the four were available in growlers-to-go and were very reasonably priced; $10 per growler; just $6 for refills (I believe the growlers were 64 ounces). Once the venue officially opens (June 13th) pints for most of their beers will be $5 and growlers will start at $10 (and be a bit more for some of their beers).

The space is modern and really nice; probably the only negative is there is not a lot of seating and I think this is going to be an extremely popular venue. There was well over one hundred people lined up on Saturday waiting for the pre-opening. It is great that Lakeview finally has a brewery. I briefly met the manager, assistant manager and the head brewer and they all seemed like nice people. No food was available at the pre-opening; the executive chef, Pete Repak, has worked previously at Charlie Trotter as a sous chef. I look forward to returning soon to try some more of their beers as well as for lunch or dinner (opening day is dinner only, but after that they will be open for lunch and dinner daily).

Well, well over 100 people...I was in line for about an hour, 45 minutes. Not as bad as Dark Lord Day, but still a very long line. Great to see so many people turn out, and I hope the support continues once they officially open. As excited as I am to have a new brewery in the neighborhood, I'm even more excited about the food menu. For years I've been wishing that Owen & Engine were in my 'hood...if Dryhop's food lives up to expectations, that may sate my desire.

I'm looking forward to this place being open, but man, sounds like it may be a nightmare (in terms of people) once it does.

wondering when these folks would open, supplied them with floor brick for the brewing area as well as some quarry tile for the kitchen. Might have to go and do a Q.C. visit.

Knowing that your Q.C. visit would include some other fantastic spots, I think it's a must!

    lol, for sure.

i really like when I get to do something related to food/restaurants at work(as small as it was) on top of the same ol' hospitals, librarys and schools we usually build.

According to this writeup, Dryhop estimates there were 400 people who came through the doors during their two-hour growler preview, 300 growlers were sold and 300 sets of four-glass/four-ounce samplers were poured. Pretty impressive turnout!

I had the pleasure of being invited to Dry Hop's soft opening on Wednesday. While it was kind of a zoo, I have high hopes for the place. I wish I would have documented everything I had to eat, but unfortunately the beers got the best of me. I remember the shiso pepper appetizer, fried chicken and poutine (covered in a white sausage gravy - think southern biscuits/gravy style) being particularly good.

I've met the head brewer there a couple times and think he's going to make some great beers. Their saison with keffir lime leaves was particularly good.

Got two growlers last saturday, one of each. I don't normally like hoppy beers, but I liked their IPA. Cream ale was good, too, but I agree with the poster upthread that the coconut stout was the standout amongst the four they were pouring. Plus, $6 for a growler fill doesn't seem too bad.

We went to DryHop last night for dinner and a couple drinks, and I have to say the food was probably the most disappointing meal we've had in Chicago. We had the poutine, which was basically cheese fries (no cheese curds?!), the short rib mini open face sandwiches, which were the only decent thing, the reuben (which we didn't realize was vegetarian), which was super soggy and the mushrooms were very pickled, the grits, which were very bland (with more of the same pickled mushrooms), and the boar belly with ricotta, which was ok (the tiny salad portion was the best part about it though). Would not come here for food again.

At least the beer was good.

    (It is SUPER loud btw).

The team behind DryHop and Corridor brewpubs is leaving the cozy confines of the Lakeview neighborhood for its next project, taking on the bright lights of Michigan Avenue.
Crushed by Giants will occupy the second-floor space formerly occupied by Heaven on Seven at 600 N. Michigan Ave.
