My "Steak Stud" was at the Hancock building today for work and he saw the Signature Room. I was only in this building once and that was during a high school field trip from Minnesota. He suggested I consult you. My search uncovered a virtual tour and some comments about a lunch buffet. I am guessing it might be nice to have a drink there and dine somewhere else with an equally nice atmosphere. Thanks for your comments.

The Signature room is, at least in my opinion, very overpriced. Perhaps worth going to for an expensive drink and a great view, but as a meal location not a place I generally recommend to people.

The lunch buffet, though not culinarily adventerous is a pretty good deal. I haven't been in about a year. But, if my recollection is correct, the lunch buffet was about $13. Whe you consider what it costs to go to the Hancock Observation Deck, the Signature Room Buffet throws in a 1970s country club type lunch buffet for only a few bucks more.

The Sunday brunch is nice, too, if you like the groaning board buffet style.

Drinks on the 96th floor are one of our favorite "impress the out-of-owners" tricks.

    oof...

nothing went right last nite @ Signature Room. we went for the view, and got a handful of nothing.

    ie,
    no view
    non existent waitstaff
no water nor bread (granted, refills, but.. still)

i regret, and apologized to my companion for, not following everyone's advice of simply going to the 96th for drinks/view. this was possibly the worst overall dining experience we've had in this town. limp steak, overcooked shrimp, waiter not offering wine/cocktail menu, stupendously high traffic area table, 2 kids screaming + running up & down a handicap-accessible ramp next to our table, and a jaded career waiter who just didn't give a rats ass about us. we spoke to the matre'd and the service captain attempted to overcompensate, but it was much too late. and that bill... could've fed a small country...

the neighboring table, otoh, had a fabulous pre-degusting experience sitting literally 6" away from us. not sure how their food tasted, but by then, i was ready to jump off the 94th floor observatory...

how does this place stay in business??? (rherotical; i know the answer, and i'm ashamed)
