Brett's in Roscoe Village on Roscoe just west of Damen is a great brunch option. It's slightly upscale compared to other places in the neighborhood. They'll start you off with their bread basket, which includes a great assortment of mixed baked goods, all of which are delicious and should tide you over until your order arrives (unless you're a low-carb person). I haven't been there for brunch in more than a year, but one of my favs is a non-traditional brunch item--the egg salad sandwich, which they do very well! I've had more traditional items, and they rock, too! Brett's also has a bar, so if you need a bloody mary or something harder, they can take care of you. Be warned, the wait can be long if you get there at peak hours.
In Evanston, I've always enjoyed Lucky Platter on Main between Chicago and Hinman. I haven't been there for a few years, so I don't have much to recommend, but I'd describe it as a gourmet/heathy soul food restaurant (sort of like Wishbone, but not really).
