    Hi,

I just started reading posts the other day and I find that I am making myself insane reading about all of these delicacies! Thanks for the Info on Spacca Napoli...I live very close to the place and am chomping at the bit to get in there for a pie.

    Thanks again everyone!!

    You're joking, right?

On this page alone are four threads with over 50 responses, and over a dozen with 25 or more responses.

    Enjoy,

to be fair, the view/reply ratio is around 1% - but that's ok by me. The information provided and searched for is somewhat niche, so it is not unsurprising that you would have such a ratio.

To be even fairer, comparing views to replys doesn't paint a picture of "liveliness". Responses to a post, as Gary illustrated, should stand on their own.

To wit, if I posted right now in the Spacca Napoli thread, it would likely generate 100 or more views from people who have been following that thread. If the posts to that thread were even spaced out, you could keep multiplying that number. It makes sense that views exponentially outpaces posts.

    Best,
    Michael

I wasn't trying to argue either way, just pointing out why some might get the impression that there is not a great deal of discussion. On the other hand, there is a great deal of dissemination of information. I'm not sure that one view or the other of liveliness is more or less fair, but I can certianly see both points of view, hence the statement about the degree to which said view/response ratio is unsuprising. It works very well for this type of information.

I'm down on Prairie (which, I am aware, is arguably not south loop or whatever). The only place I've had delievery from is Opart Thai on State and Archer, and that was for dinner. I assume they also deliever lunch. there was a thread on them here.

99% of PhpBB forums consist of 279-post threads in which someone makes one or two comments of value, followed by 138 posts in which people agree with him or her (usually with emoticons rather than actual words, or at least abbreviations), followed by the introduction of an in-joke ("At least he didn't have to wear purple galoshes!"), followed by 127 posts elaborating on the in-joke in ways that are completely inexplicable to outsiders, which is why the threads don't draw outsiders, which is why they require in-jokes to keep the board lively...

LTHForum is the other 1%. We have NO problem with fewer, better posts, let's put it that way.

Getting back to the original topic, funghi, I have no sympathy for you :D

Saturday night I got really sick. I didn't eat anything all day Sunday or Monday. I was finally able to eat very little Tuesday, a total of 2 apples. Then Wednesday I had to go a full clear liquid diet in preperation of a colonoscopy on Thursday. Well that didn't go well and my doctor has kept me on the liquid diet for 48 more hours. I can't eat until Saturday at 4pm. Almost exactly a week since my last meal.

So try reading about all these place and know that you can't eat. Even my dogs' Frito smelling feet are turning me on.

I completely agree. The quality of information on this site is outstanding. If there were more useless posts, it would just make finding this information more difficult.
Very often I can find what I'm looking for by just doing a search-- this does not require any posting, but would increase the number of views. Other times my opinion is already reflected by another member-- this also does not require me to post.
I think of this site more as a constantly updated point of reference that just happens to be interactive as well. Which in my mind works perfectly.
