My mom is coming into the city from the burbs around 2:30 and my boyfriend and I are trying to think of a nice place to go to lunch in the above neighborhoods.

    Any suggestions?

    TIA!

Pasta for lunch at Terragusto, not that far away.

Turkish Cuisine has a pretty nice atmosphere for an ethnic-y choice.

And the new favorite Spaccanapoli for pizza. Corner of Sunnyside and Ravenswood.

FYI, Spacca Napoli's lunch hours end at 3pm, so the OP who wanted a rec for a 2:30 lunch spot might want to keep that in mind if they're running late.

I'd throw Jury's into the recommendation mix. I've had many nice lunches there.

    Best,
    Michael

I second the Spacca Napoli recommendation...it was really good - I took my mom there for Saturday lunch and she really liked it.
Also, Tank is really great sushi in Lincoln Square and I think it opens for a later lunch, maybe?

I would suggest Glenn's Diner (1820 W Montrose Ave). The place is casual yet has a really nice feel to it. It is definitely not a "diner" They have fantastic seafood and fish as well as nice salad and sandwiches selection.

Afterwards head across the street to Margies Candies for a fantastic ice cream based dessert. The place is a charming remake of a 1950's soda fountain. It is a new second location to the origonal which is on Armitage.

    Have fun!

From what I've read in the Terragusto thread, it appears they do not offer pasta for lunch on the weekends, just eggs and such. Unless they have changed their menu?

Note that Spaccanapoli is now closed for both lunch and dinner on Monday and Tuesday.

Cafe Selmarie, in the heart of Lincoln Square, would be my choice - followed by a nice stroll along Lincoln.
    Cheers from the French Baguette

La Bocca della Veritas on Lincoln just north of Wilson is a nice idea for lunches, the place a nice neighborhood vibe with reliable food.

Here is a link: http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=5516&highlight=bocca that discusses it further.

    Enjoy!

Technically this is in Edgewater, but my gosh it is worth going a bit out of your way for. Fresh interesting ingredients, innovative combinations. Presentation is delightful, a great place to take out of towners.
