I'm curious if anyone knows if there's a Japanese place in the City or on the North Shore that serves okonomiyaki? There's a thread from a couple of years ago that references somewhere in Arlington Heights as the only place in Chicagoland. Has anyone found any other places since then?

    Thanks,

If you can't find a place that serves it, try making your own :D I found the following recipe on Allrecipes.com. It looks simple and fun!

I'm fairly certain that the Mitsuwa food court serves okonomiyaki ... is that the okonomiyaki source cited in the other thread? If not, I probably wouldn't make a trip out for it. But if you're in the area...

Yep, there is a stand in the Mitsuwa food court that makes a nice, tasty, and very inexpensive okonomiyaki. The same stand makes a good batch of takoyaki too!

I recently had Dodo's Okonomiyaki. I have no idea what real stuff tastes like. It was fine but I'd like it cooked longer - much of the cabbage was still crispy, and the outside wasn't nice and browned.

    Hi..

Hama Matsu on Clark in Andersonville has okonomiyaki. I believe they have two kinds: vegetable and seafood. I have had the seafood version several times and found it tasty, tho' my experience with okonomiyaki is not wide, so I can only make limited comparisons.

    Enjoy.
