FEBRUARY 28, 2006 -- Chicago-based gourmet food store Fox and Obel announced last week that it will open its second store this year and intends to open five more in the next four years in the surrounding area, reports a recent Chicago Sun-Times article.
The store, known for chef-prepared meals, fresh-baked breads and exotic imported foods, struggled financially after it opened less than two weeks before Sept. 11, 2001. It launched a recapitalization campaign in 2002's third quarter, resulting in a $2.2 million infusion of cash and a large group of Chicago-based investor-owners.
