I remember faintly visiting a restaurant in Chinatown where the Dim Sum was served in little wax paper boats that flloated in a little trough between the booths.

The boats were different colors which indicated the price.

    Cool dream!

I'm not sure if you there's some seriousness in your post, but I have some pics stored away on a dim sum in a boat post from Mountain View, in the Chinatown Mall.

One of my all time favorite LTH quotes was Chuck Cowdery's "You will know that you have ordered a boatload of sushi when they bring it to the table... in a boat." And here Mountain View was, serving their dim sum in little boats. Good stuff, too.

    Pics soon, I swear!

    Panther,

While I've occasionally seen festive table side presentations of sushi served in wooden boats, and there is a currently operating Japanese restaurant in Mt. Prospect, Kampai, that floats sushi past customers in boats, I've never seen floating dim sum. Rolling carts, sure, but never floating past the customer in boats.

There was also a short lived offshoot of the Benihana chain called Sushi Doraku on State St. Mediocre, at best, sushi swung around on conveyor belts.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

I think the Sushi Station in Rolling Meadows also has sushi on a conveyor belt/boats.

    No boats, just colored plates.
